LITTLE VALLEY — The village of Little Valley invites all residents and community stakeholders to attend a Nov. 18 community open house and public hearing, facilitated by the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, for the Comprehensive Plan Update.
The open house will be held 5:30–7 p.m. at the Village Hall Community Room, 103 Rock City St., followed by the public hearing at 7 o’clock.
A comprehensive plan serves as a guide for community decision-makers and stakeholders by documenting the community’s existing conditions; establishing a vision, goals, objectives and action items; and mapping and describing desired future land use types.
The village’s current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1999 and, due to changing community conditions and trends, a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee was convened in early 2024 to oversee an update to the Plan with assistance from the Barton & Loguidice consultant team. Public input has been solicited through a community survey (open late-February to mid-April 2024) and a community visioning workshop (March 27, 2024); this input was used to shape a draft comprehensive plan update, now ready for public review and comment.
The open house will begin with a brief presentation providing an overview of the update process and draft plan content then break out into a poster gallery session. Members of the steering committee and consultant team will be available to answer questions and collect and discuss community feedback.
The public hearing at 7 p.m. will be held in accordance with state law. After hearing public testimony, the steering committee will decide whether or not to pass a resolution to refer the draft comprehensive plan update to the village board for consideration for adoption.
Visit the village website at www.villageoflittlevalley.org to review the draft plan update online. Hard copies are also on display at the village hall and the Little Valley Memorial Library.
