DUNKIRK — For Salamanca (13-3), Karina Crouse scored 16 points, and led a trio of double-digit scorers in a 58-14 road win against Dunkirk.
On Feb. 5, Leilene McComber and Lezly McComber both scored 11 points for the Warriors in their third straight win.
For Dunkirk, Ashley Collazo scored a team-high six points.
“We knew coming into the game that they were short handed but that didn’t stop us from focusing on what we needed to do,” Salamanca coach Joe Hinman said. “We got up on them quickly and played fast at the pace we set. It was good to work on some things to get better and everyone played some very solid minutes.”
Ellicottville 62, Forestville 24
ELLICOTTVILLE — On Feb. 5, Dalayla Alexander (eight steals, four assists) and Ande Northrup (five assists, five steals) scored 16 points each to lead Ellicottville.
Addison John and Natalee Leiper (eight rebounds) added 10 points each for the Eagles (10-5).
Carilene Sliwa scored 11 points to lead Forestville (2-12).
Franklinville 54, North Collins 18
FRANKLINVILLE — Sofia Bentley led Franlinville (12-4) at home on Feb. 5 with 24 points and six steals.
Olivia Frank added a double-double — 13 points and 15 rebounds with four steals — for the Panthers and Grace Cornell made five assists and Hailey Rzucek had eight rebounds.
Morgan Kreinheder had six points for North Collins (7-8).
BOYS BASKETBALL
North Collins 53, Franklinville 49
FRANKLINVILLE — Derek Ebersole paced North Collins to a road win on Feb. 3, scoring a game-high 24 points.
Also for North Collins (6-10), Zach Quiter scored 13 points.
Matthew Spittler scored 21 points for Franklinville, which fell to 11-5 overall and 8-1 in CCAA East II play.
Ellicottville 60, North Collins 41
ELLICOTTVILLE — On Feb. 2, Ellicottville’s Blake Smith knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to scoring a game-high 21 points in a home win Friday night.
Carter Smith added 20 points with seven rebounds and five assists for Ellicottville (11-5). Owen Chudy grabbed 17 rebounds and William Benatovich had nine.
For North Collins, Walter Ebersole led the way in a loss with 14 points and Derek Ebersole added 11 points.
Cattaraugus-LV 46, Forestville 35
CATTARAUGUS — Cattaraugus-Little Valley (4-12) picked up its second win in its last three games on Feb. 2, this time having taken down Forestville at home.
Nine different players managed to get on the scoresheet for the Timberwolves. They were led by DJ Szata, who was the only player for CLV to finish in double figures with 10 points.
Forestville’s Jackson Rebmann scored a game-high 13 points and Dominic Anders added 12.
WRESTLING
JAMESTOWN — On Feb. 3, the Salamanca boys wrestling team’s day at the Section 6 Class C/D Championships was highlighted by a third place finish by Keegan Hardy.
Hardy’s pin in the 285 weight class third place match punched his ticket to the Section 6 Small School Sectional Championships on Feb. 10 at Lakeshore High School.
Conner Seeley came up one win short of moving onto the section championships after he placed sixth in the 145 weight class. However, he is the alternate for the weight class at the championships.
Thomas George and Noah Longley each grabbed wins on the day as well.
