The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau is pleased to announce this week’s featured Youth Citizenship Award recipient is Heartly Phipps.
She is the daughter of Charity Phipps and is a senior at Olean High School.
Phipps was nominated by one of her teachers, who described her as an involved leader and helper. She plays a huge role in planning countless school activities.
After graduation, Phipps wishes to broaden her education in the fashion industry and continue playing the trumpet.
Phipps has several leadership roles. She has participated in both Student Council and Zonta club as President. As a delegated member, Phipps has spent four years with Model UN and a member of DECA for two. She is involved in many sports including varsity tennis, soccer, basketball and softball.
Phipps has received several honors including 20/40/60 Point Award for outstanding school involvement, the Susan B. Anthony Award from the University of Rochester, the RIT Humanities and Social Science Award and Excellence in Engineering.
Outside of school, Phipps’s special interests include hanging out with friends, trivia nights and playing her trumpet.
Nominations for the 2024 graduating class are open.
