FALCONER — Both Franklinville/Ellicottville track and field teams and the Randolph boys won CCAA division championships at the county league meet on Saturday.
F/E won the boys and girls Div. II, while the Randolph boys took first in Div. III. The Randolph girls were second in Div. III. Both the Salamanca boys and girls both took third in Div. III.
For the F/E girls, whose 213 points topped Portville’s 156 in Div. II.
Tyyetta Herman won the 100, Anna Slavinski won the 400 hurdles and Tarryn Herman won the shot put for the Titans. Tyyetta Herman also was second in the 200 and third in the long jump.
Mandy Hurlburt was second in the 100 hurdles, Elizabeth Price second in the discus and fifth in shot put, Alyssa Williams fourth in both the 2000 steeplechase and 800 and Audrey Hurlburt fourth in the 100 hurdles. F/E was third in the 1600 relay.
Salamanca took third in Div. II and Jillian Rea won the discus (98-feet-9-inches) for the Warriors, along with a third-place shot put throw.
“Coach Gene Oyer said she was great under pressure today,” SHS girls coach Laurie Lafferty-John said. “Her focus and composure has grown tremendously and she is capable of throwing farther in the next two weeks. We are so proud of Jill as she has put in a lot of time in the weight room and in drills and video analysis to get to this level.”
Harley Brown was third in the 400 hurdles and sixth in the 2000 steeplechase. Alina Cook was ninth in discus and Michaelynn Lecceradone ninth in the 100 hurdles.
Corinne Inkley led the Randolph girls with a first-place pole vault clearing 9-foot-0. She was fifth in the long jump. Randolph also took second (Eve Adams) and third (Willow Rader) in the pole vault.
Sydney Smith was second in the 800 and third in the 2000 steeplechase. Gracyn Rowland was fifth in the 2000 steeplechase and Renee Waterman sixth in the shot put. The Randolph 3200 relay (Adams, Sydney Smith, Rowland, Sara Smith) took third.
For West Valley, Olivia Harmony took fourth in the 3000.
On the boys’ side, for Div. II champion F/E, Wyatt Tinelli took second in the pole vault.
Connor Terwilliger was fourth in the 110 hurdles and fifth in triple jump, Maddox Bush tied for fourth in high jump, Grant Cornell fourth in the 3000 steeplechase, Cayden Hatch fourth in the 400 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles. Dominic Breton (discus) and Bill Slavinski (200) both had fifth-place finishes.
For the Randolph boys, Roan Kelly had three top-two finishes, including a win in the 3200 (9:38.92) along with second in the 800 and 1600. Clayton Crouse won the pole vault (12-0).
Talon Rowland (400), Carson Conley (110 hurdles), Caden Inkley (pole vault) and Ryan Carpenter (shot put) each had a third-place finish and Josh Bush was fifth in long jump.
Archer Newark led the Salamanca boys, placing fifth in the 100 and sixth in the 200. Jesse Hill was ninth in the 400. Salamanca’s 400 relay took seventh. Out of 17 total events for Salamanca boys, the Warriors had 11 personal records.
“We are incredibly proud of the work that our athletes have put in all season,” SHS boys coach Michelle Hill said. “They have become more independent in meet situations, preparing on their own both mentally and physically pre-competition. Their attitude, effort, and perseverance has continued to show through their growth and PRs as we begin to wrap up the 2022 season. We have a definite two weeks remaining with the Class C sectional meet in Wilson on Friday, and with several automatic qualifications in the state qualifier sectional meet.”
