School districts across Western New York held their annual budget and school board election votes Tuesday. Here are the results from some of the districts in central and western Cattaraugus County.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley
Voters approved a $28.65 million budget by a 119-23 tally. Additional proposals were to:
Spend $634,500 to purchase school buses, which was approved, 120-22.
Establish a $2.5 million capital improvements reserve fund, which was approved, 121-22.
Fund the Cattaraugus Free Library and the Memorial Library of Little Valley, which was approved, 104-37.
With two school board seats open, elected were Christopher Shattuck with 120 votes and Stacey Aguiar with 199 votes.
Ellicottville
Voters approved a $14.33 million budget by a 140-36 tally. Additional proposals were to:
Lease two school buses, which was approved, 150-27.
Purchase of school buses of up to $70,000, which was approved, 157-22.
With one school board seat open, Kristen Pearl was elected to a five-year term with 108 votes. Mark Shaw received 59 and Ed Doherty received one write-in vote.
Gowanda
Voters approved the budget, a vehicle purchase and aid for the Gowanda Free Library.
John Waterman Jr., Barbara Weston and Shauna McMahon were elected to three board seats. No vote tallies were reported.
Randolph
Voters overwhelmingly approved a $20.93 million budget with a 114-14 tally.
Board candidates Kyle A. Brown with 123 votes, Daniel Jackson with 117, and Julie Milliman with 114 were elected. No write-in candidate received five or more votes.
Salamanca
Voters overwhelmingly approved the $47.43 million school budget with a 319-31 tally. Additional proposals were to:
Establish a $25 million capital improvements reserve fund, which passed 319-23.
Approve the 2022 capital improvement project, which passed 315-30.
Tadd Rider received a five-year term with 214 votes, and Donald “Flip” White received a one-year unexpired term with 199 votes. Timothy Waterman received 168 votes.
West Valley
Voters approved a $9.1 million budget with a 103-66 tally.
