Ellicottville senior Courtney Sexton was named Co-Pitcher of the Year in CCAA East softball postseason honors recently released by the division.
Sexton won the award along with Portville senior Brooke DeYoe. Portville senior catcher Mia Hlasnick won CCAA East Player of the Year.
The CCAA East also announced its first and second-team all-stars, honorable mentions, sportsmanship and coach of the year awards. Portville’s Bill Torrey won the coach of the year as the Panthers won the league championship at 12-0.
Sexton and three teammate first-team all-stars helped the Eagles go 10-2 in the league this year. Sophomore Allison Rowland, junior Jocelyn Wyatt and senior Jenna Hadley were all first-team all-stars. Seniors Jill Tomsick and Olivia Pitillo both made the second team while senior Lindsay Swalcy and junior Emilee Ruiz were honorable mentions. Senior Erin Quinn was selected as her team’s individual sportsmanship award winner.
For Cattaraugus-Little Valley (7-5), senior Lexi Mikowicz and junior Alex Minnekine both made the first team. Senior Maegan Ellis and sophomore Kora Sentz made the second team and seniors Alexis Shattuck and Macy Pritchard were honorable mentions, with Pritchard also a sportsmanship award winner.
Salamanca junior Emma Brown represented the Warriors on the first team, while freshman Emily Brown and sophomore Makenzie Oakes made the second team. Senior Makayla Burch was an honorable mention. Gahsëni’de’ Hubbell won an individual sportsmanship award.
West Valley, which returned to fielding its own team for the first time in several years, won the team sportsmanship award. Sophomore Lauren Frascella made the first team, sophomore Colleen Keller made the second team and senior Leah Seltzer was an honorable mention and the team’s individual sportsmanship award winner.
