RED HOUSE — Join park staff every Tuesday evening at 4:30 p.m. in the new year for a trek into the sunset at Allegany State Park.
Beginning Jan. 7, park naturalists will lead interpretive snowshoe treks, snow dependent, or hikes if there is not enough snow. Witness a breathtaking winter sunset at Stone Tower, visit a secret beaver pond or hike along a creek.
Meeting places and hikes will vary. Be sure to dress for the weather, bring a flashlight, water, a snack and a sense of adventure.
Need snowshoes? No problem. Several pairs are available to rent for free. Please call to reserve snowshoes by noon on the day of each hike.
For more information and the location of the weekly hike, contact the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at (716) 354-9101 ext. 236, AlleganySP@parks.ny.gov or check out the park’s Facebook page.
