HUMPHREY — The 22nd annual Blueberry Days All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast at the Town of Humphrey Volunteer Fire Company was a huge success, according to volunteer Yvonne Dietz.
Dietz spent Saturday morning at the griddle in the kitchen, flipping pancakes made with fresh, locally grown Child’s blueberries.
In addition to a mountain blueberry pancakes and sausage, visitors also enjoyed the blueberry bake sale and blueberry baking contest.
Eight-year-old Kelsey Feldbauer attended the event with her grandmother, Kathy Lacy, and entered the blueberry baking contest for the first time with her blueberry lemon bars.
“I hope I win a trophy,” said Kelsey.
Nancy Frazier does not belong to the fire company but has been volunteering at the annual pancake breakfast for too many years to remember.
“I like to help out in my community,” she said.
Humphrey Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Nazareth said the volunteers were grateful to the community for all of their support. Proceeds from the event are used to supply the volunteer fire company with all of their needs.
Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the Humphrey Volunteer Fire Company.
