SALAMANCA — The Salamanca City Central School District has announced Nyles Panus valedictorian and Nora Warrior salutatorian for the Class of 2019.
Valedictorian Nyles Panus will graduate with a 97.587 grade point average. Involved in several extracurricular activities, Nyles is involved in DECA, Key Club, Warriors Robotics and science and math honor societies.
Nyles is the lieutenant governor of New York Key Club’s 26th District, which encompasses Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. He is also CEO of the Warrior Robotics club. He has been honored as a National Honor Society Outstanding Member, Distinguished Key Clubber and a Big 30 Academic All-Star.
In addition to his regular high school classes, Nyles has earned several college course credits while at Salamanca, including English composition, literature, calculus/analytic geometry, computer application software and college success skills.
Athletically, Nyles was active in football, bowling and golf. He was named to the Western New York All-Academic Team in football and a New York state scholar-athlete in bowling and golf.
Nyles plans to attend Jamestown Community College to study economics. He is interested in a career as an actuary, economic consultant, or lawyer.
Nyles is the son of Amy Emborsky and Jason Panus.
Salutatorian Nora Warrior will graduate with a 97.511 average. She has been her class’s president for four years and has served in the same role for DECA and Key Club. She is also the vice president for the Business & Marketing Honor Society.
Nora has also been involved in student council and is a member of the science, math, music and DECA honor societies.
Outside her extracurricular leadership roles, Nora was a Girls State representative in 2018. She was also named Salamanca’s Warrior of the Month (October 2017) and Student of the Month (February 2019) and finished third in the Angelo Melaro writing contest during her junior year.
In addition to her regular high school classes, Nora has earned credits from Jamestown Community College and Erie Community College this year in English, calculus, business and zoology.
Athletically, Nora was captain for the tennis, bowling and lacrosse teams at Salamanca. She was also a football cheerleader for four years and will participate in the Big 30 game in August.
Nora plans to attend SUNY Geneseo to study biology.
She is the daughter of Michael and JoAnn Warrior.
Salamanca City Central School District’s 133rd commencement ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at the high school auditorium.
