SALAMANCA — At the next regular Board of Education meeting Aug. 8, Assistant Principal Christopher Siebert is expected to be appointed interim high school principal in the Salamanca City Central School District, effective July 30.
Siebert is filling the vacancy of Scott Cooper, who resigned as high school principal, effective July 31, to accept a position at Southwestern High School in Jamestown.
School officials said Siebert brings a wealth of experience to this interim position as a former teacher in the Salamanca school district, as well as years of experience as an administrator, athletic director, parent, teacher and community member.
Officials in the district said they have complete confidence in Siebert and strongly believe “that he will continue to do good work and pursue success that the high school now experiences while offering a calm, steady hand at the helm and hold students and staff to the high expectations we require of each other.”
District Superintendent Robert Breidenstein has consulted with central administration and members of the Board of Education on the appointment of an interim high school principal while the district pursues a permanent replacement principal and a target appointment date in the next few weeks.
The posting closes on Aug. 11 and interviews will begin shortly thereafter. A pre-screening of candidates is scheduled through Aug. 14.
On Monday, Aug. 21 and Tuesday, Aug. 22, a committee is expected to interview the candidates with final interviews scheduled for Aug. 25. The Board of Education would then be expected to appoint the new principal at its Aug. 29 meeting.
