SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. — The Young Warriors 5th and 6th grade travel basketball team ended its season the same way it began, by winning a Tournament Championship.
The Young Warriors capped their memorable 2016-17 season (34-1, 7 straight tournament championships) by winning the Shinglehouse Invitational Tournament on March 11.
Salamanca defeated Bradford in the championship game. The Young Warriors were led by Lucus Brown with 51 points and 26 rebounds and Andy Herrick with 33 points and 19 rebounds. Carson Mohr led the defensive charge with 7 blocked shots. Point guards Jacob Herrick and Jaxson Ross did a fantastic job of running the offense and had 15 and 11 assists respectively.
The Young Warriors are finished with tournament play this year but will be staying in the gym during the offseason to try and build on this year’s success. Coach Greg Herrick notes the team would like to thank the parents, community and school for all of their loyal support this year.
